If your tinnitus feels out of control, your brain may be the reason.

Tinnitus starts in the hearing system, but what makes it loud and intrusive is something different—a brain process that is treatable.

eliminate the distractions

If you're ready to find out what's driving your tinnitus, the first step is taking our assessment.

NeuroMed’s Tinnitus Severity Assessment™ is based on validated clinical tools used to identify brain-based tinnitus. It shows you the impact of your tinnitus and the reasons why it is loud and out of control.

Why Your Brain Keeps Turning Up the Volume

Several brain regions are affected by loud tinnitus. It’s not just the sound—it’s how your brain reacts to it.

 Here's how it works…

1️⃣  Brain Inflammation and Brain Sensitivity
Low-grade inflammation makes your brain hypersensitive—so the tinnitus sound gets amplified, even if the original signal is faint.

 2️⃣  Fight-or-Flight Activation
That amplified sound triggers your brain’s alarm system—turning tinnitus into something urgent, emotional, and impossible to tune out.

3️⃣  Attention Lock-in From Brain Rewiring
The fight-or-flight response causes your brain to prioritize tinnitus, pushing it to the front of your awareness. That’s why you can’t “just ignore it.”

What You’ll Learn From the Assessment

This isn’t just a tinnitus quiz. It’s your chance to discover what’s actually causing it.

What you’ll walk away with:

✅  A clearer understanding of what is driving your tinnitus

✅  Insight into how it’s affecting key functional areas of your life

✅  A deeper understanding of what your brain really needs to heal

Want to know what's causing your loud tinnitus? Here's your chance to take control.

Dr. Hamid Djalilian

Dr. Djalilian is an internationally recognized expert with more than 20 years of experience in the treatment of tinnitus and brain sensitivity disorders and is currently the Chief Medical Advisor for NeuroMed Tinnitus Clinic.

Renowned for his tinnitus expertise and groundbreaking clinical protocols to treat tinnitus, Dr. Djalilian led his team at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) to a fundamental discovery:

Tinnitus is a brain sensitivity problem, not just an ear problem.

This discovery ushered in the development of an all-new protocol for the treatment of tinnitus, validated by formal clinical trials at UCI and bringing relief to close to 90% of those who’ve completed it. By developing this treatment, patients who had been brushed off by other medical experts were finally finding relief.

Based on this research, Dr. Djalilian and his team developed the Tinnitus Severity Assessment™ to reveal the impact tinnitus has on the daily lives of tinnitus sufferers, assess how to best help them find relief, and prepare them to commit to their recovery.

Tinnitus Relief Does Exist

It may feel like you've tried everything – that your frustration has been ignored and that you will have to “just live with” tinnitus…

But tinnitus doesn’t have to rule your life!

Take your first step towards relief with the Tinnitus Severity Assessment™

Questions? Answers.

The Tinnitus Severity Assessment™ is a two part test and typically requires no more than a couple of minutes to complete.

The Tinnitus Severity Assessment™ is based on two tests. The first is the Modified Tinnitus Functional Index, a validated instrument that tests for the neurological causes of loud tinnitus. The second is the Brain Sensitization Profile, a measure of neurological and sensory reactivity.  Combined, they give you a clear understanding of what is driving your tinnitus symptoms.

No, the Tinnitus Severity Assessment™ is provided free of charge.

Upon completion of the assessment, you will be offered the chance to receive personalized test results by email. If you just want to take the test and get general information based on your results, there's an option for that too.

Yes, you are welcome to take the Tinnitus Severity Assessment™ as many times as you wish.

The assessment categorizes the causes and severity of your tinnitus. Taking the assessment allows you to qualify for a free Application Call with our intake team where you'll find out more about the tinnitus problem and whether you qualify for the treatment we offer.

Please note: This assessment is for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition.

The Modified Tinnitus Functional Index™ incorporates a measure of tinnitus severity and an indication of its impact on your life. The Brain Sensitization™ profile gives an indication of whether your nervous system and sensory faculties are hyper-reactive.

Certainly, following the assessment, you'll be eligible for an Application Call with our Intake Team to further discuss your results and explore potential treatment options with NeuroMed and to see if you qualify to receive our treatment.

Yes, your responses are stored securely and your data will NEVER be shared with any third parties. Our process is controlled by HIPAA best practices and all of our business partners are HIPAA compliant. HIPAA is the federal regulation that protects patient information.

Yes, by taking the Tinnitus Severity Assessment™, you will have the option of getting a personalized report based on your results. In doing so, you authorize NeuroMed to contact you at the email address you provide.  But if you don't want to leave your email, you can still take the test and get general info about your results.

About NeuroMed

We are one of the nation's leading tinnitus clinics and our program offers the most comprehensive approach to treating tinnitus available. After 20 years of tinnitus research, Dr. Djalilian has discovered the reason tinnitus becomes loud and bothersome in people. Treating this process leads to significant improvement of the tinnitus to a point where it is not noticeable during the day. This requires a multi-modal approach to therapy using a rehabilitation model of care via telehealth.

No! There has been tremendous progress in research on tinnitus in the last few years. We now understand that tinnitus becomes loud and bothersome due to processes in the brain. Dr. Djalilian has identified those causes and has been successfully treating tinnitus with this new treatment regimen. On average, it takes 17 years from the time a new treatment is discovered until it is practiced by 50% of physicians. Fortunately, you are finding out about this in the early stages.

We currently operate in 19 states and are expanding rapidly to cover all 50 states in the nation. We are licensed to practice medicine in the following states: AR, CA, FL, GA, IN, KS, KY, MA, ME, MN, MT, NC, ND, NJ, OH, TX, VA, WA, WI.

Yes! Our success rate of nearly 90%, along with the dramatic reduction in severity scores that we see, proves that we can help you in your struggle with tinnitus.
