The term nutraceutical combines the words “nutrition” and “pharmaceutical” to describe natural products that provide health benefits beyond their nutritional value.

Nutraceuticals are derived from food sources, such as vitamins, minerals, or herbal extracts. These natural products are a central component of our integrated approach to treating tinnitus with the NeuroMed Solution. This is because nutraceuticals can provide powerful health benefits with minimal side effects.

Depending on your condition and your custom treatment plan, we recommend nutraceuticals that will help your brain to recover from tinnitus in an optimal fashion. Some of the most commonly recommended ones are described below.

Magnesium is a mineral that plays a vital role in many bodily functions, including nerve and muscle function, blood pressure regulation, and energy production.

Studies have shown that magnesium may also be effective in reducing the symptoms of tinnitus and related disorders. Magnesium works by regulating the transmission of nerve impulses, which can help reduce the hypersensitivity to stimuli that can trigger your symptoms.

It can also help relax blood vessels and reduce inflammation.

Vitamin B2

Vitamin B2, or riboflavin, is a water-soluble vitamin essential for many bodily functions, including energy production and cell growth.

Studies suggest that riboflavin may also have anti-inflammatory properties in nerves of the brain, a factor in tinnitus disorders. Riboflavin also improves mitochondrial function, a key part of brain cells which can have dysfunction in symptoms like tinnitus, migraine, dizziness, etc.

Riboflavin works by inhibiting the production of inflammatory cytokines, which are responsible for causing inflammation in the brain. It can also increase the production of antioxidants that protect the brain from damage.

Melatonin is a hormone produced naturally by the pineal gland in the brain that helps regulate the sleep-wake cycle. It has been found to be effective in treating tinnitus, dizziness, and migraine headaches.

Tinnitus is often associated with disruptive sleep patterns, and melatonin can help regulate sleep and reduce the frequency and severity of tinnitus. Melatonin is also a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent, which can help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in the body.

The same mechanism of action is also helpful in other tinnitus related disorders.

Coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme Q10, also known as CoQ10, is a natural substance found in the body that plays a critical role in energy production. It is also a powerful antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.

Recent studies have found that CoQ10 may also be beneficial in reducing brain inflammation, a key factor in tinnitus, dizziness, and migraines. CoQ10 works to reduce the production of inflammatory cytokines responsible for causing inflammation in the brain.

It can also increase the production of antioxidants that protect the brain from damage.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is essential for the absorption of calcium and bone health. However, recent studies have suggested that vitamin D may also play a role in reducing brain inflammation and may help in the treatment of tinnitus.

Vitamin D works by regulating the production of inflammatory cytokines and promoting the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines, which help reduce inflammation in the brain. It can also help protect brain cells from damage caused by free radicals.

Given the high prevalence of Vitamin D deficiency, we routinely recommend taking high-dose Vitamin D as part of our overall protocol.
