Conditions We Treat

Our team at NeuroMed focuses on offering integrative treatments for chronic tinnitus and related brain sensitivity disorders. These disorders originate from hormonal and electrical changes in the brain caused by stress, physical trauma, or infections.

If the source of these brain changes continues (e.g., stress, poor sleep, diet), these symptoms may become chronic and affect your ability to focus and perform everyday activities. Due to the neurologic mechanisms that cause brain sensitivity disorders, an integrative approach is the best option to treat them.

At NeuroMed, we combine traditional medicine, alternative medicine, and lifestyle therapy to help you regain your well-being. Our scientific approach to these conditions is combined with supportive coaching and holistic care.

Too often, people with chronic tinnitus are told that “nothing can be done.” This is absolutely not the case. While tinnitus originates in the hearing apparatus, the annoyance we experience with chronic tinnitus occurs in various different parts of the brain. This means that tinnitus can be managed with neuroscience-based strategies to reduce its annoyance.

NeuroMed specializes in the medical management of tinnitus, a treatment approach that involves structured neurologic rehabilitation. We use medications, nutraceuticals, brain therapies, and lifestyle changes to actively rewire the brain so that the experience of tinnitus fades into the background.

Vertigo & Dizziness

Tinnitus is often accompanied by dizziness.

Dizziness is a broad term that encompasses vertigo (room spinning), unsteadiness, feeling like you’re on a boat, rocking, lightheadedness, or a feeling of losing balance. Vertigo, on the other hand, is a specific type of dizziness characterized by a false sense of movement, usually sensed as room spinning around the patient or a sensation of spinning inside the head.

When dizziness and vertigo become intense, they can lead to symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, and balance difficulties.

Vertigo and dizziness are most commonly caused by a brain issue that can affect the inner ear.

Extensive research over the last 15 years by Dr. Djalilian has found that a migraine-like phenomenon is responsible for most patients who experience vertigo, rocking or being on a boat sensation, fluctuating imbalance, etc.

Long COVID, also known as post-COVID syndrome, refers to the lingering symptoms that last for more than a month after one has an initial infection with the COVID virus. While it can affect the heart or lungs, it most commonly manifests as chronic neurological symptoms like tinnitus, dizziness, brain fog, and fatigue.

Relief from long COVID symptoms is possible through structured therapy. At NeuroMed, we have discovered that our integrative neurosensory rehabilitation (INR) approach is an ideal strategy for treating the symptoms of long COVID, including associated tinnitus.
